Pakistan Branch of CC6 successfully dismantled the old furnace in NRL TSDU REVAMP PROJECT on December 2nd, 2019, indicating that the whole project entered the installation phase of new equipment and piping.
The project is located at Korangi Industrial area, Karachi. The Owner, National Refinery Limited, intends to revamp the plant and increase the processing capacity from 12000BPSD to 17000BPSD of existing TSDU Lube-I refinery, targeting to increase the existing crude oil processing capacity by 40%. It’s the second cooperation between CC6 and NRL. CC6’s work scope includes all the construction work of civil, equipment, piping, electrical and instrument related to dismantling and new erection.
In a limited area of about 36m long and 20m wide, CC6 shall complete the lifting work of dismantling the old furnace (about 65t with a lifting radius of about 27m), and of placing a new furnace (diameter of 5m, height of 13m, about 45t) and a new convection module of another furnace (length of 12.5 m, width of 2.2 m, height of 4.5 m, about 80t) while a 4.5m high building barrier sits at the back of the crane.
Despite all this, we took our local resource advantages to overcome the difficulties of machinery access, excess cross-operation, crane suitability, etc. by adopting a 4100W Ringer crane which has smaller dimension but superior performance. Fixed on its position, the Ringer crane successfully completed the lifting work of old furnace dismantling. The excellent work arrangement brought CC6 unanimous praise from both the General Contractor and NRL.
