In September, the 2 x 450 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant project in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, undertaken by the Seventh Branch of China National Chemical Engineering Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. (CC6), successfully completed the first day of hoisting operations using a 260-ton crawler crane. This milestone marks the official commencement of major component hoisting work at the project site.

Upon completion and commissioning, the power plant is expected to supply 20% to 25% of Cambodia’s electricity demand, effectively easing local power shortages, further optimizing the regional energy supply structure, and supporting the upgrading and development of Cambodia’s energy infrastructure.

Facing multiple challenges, including a confined construction site, oversized components, and high-altitude lifting operations, the project team made thorough preparations and developed a scientific construction plan in advance. Taking actual site conditions into account, the team carefully prepared a dedicated hoisting plan, providing a strong foundation for the safe and successful execution of the lifting operations. The successful completion of this milestone has laid a solid foundation for the comprehensive advancement of subsequent construction work on the LNG storage tanks and associated facilities.
