On August 10 local time, a powerful magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck Colombia, affecting 32 cities across the country. Cali, located just approximately 60 kilometers from CC6’s Regasification Station Installation Project, was among the hardest-hit areas. Buildings collapsed, water and electricity supplies were disrupted, and essential supplies for affected residents were running critically low. In response to the disaster, China National Chemical Engineering Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. (CC6) acted swiftly, building a bridge of humanitarian assistance through compassion and a strong sense of responsibility.

The day after the earthquake, the CC6 project team was traveling to procure construction materials when it happened to pass a local civilian relief collection point. After verifying the relief organization’s legitimacy, the project team immediately expressed its willingness to donate and placed an order for 100 cases of bottled water. The team closely monitored production and logistics to ensure the water reached the affected areas of Buga promptly, helping alleviate the urgent shortage of drinking water in the aftermath of the earthquake. At the same time, with the client’s approval, the project team sorted and allocated unused blue waterproof tarpaulins from the project site. These materials were handed over to the Colombian client for coordinated packaging and were all donated to the affected areas, providing emergency shelter from wind and rain and addressing the immediate needs of local residents.

Overseas construction is about more than building projects; it is also about shouldering responsibility. As a Chinese construction enterprise with an established presence in Latin America, CC6 remains committed to localized development and the fulfillment of its social responsibilities while steadily advancing project construction. From proactively engaging with local civilian relief organizations and coordinating across multiple parties to overcome transportation and supply challenges, to putting idle materials to good use in support of disaster relief, CC6 has translated its commitment into concrete action, bringing warmth and assistance from China across borders and oceans to those affected. Standing alongside local communities, the company is working with the people of Colombia to weather this difficult time together.

The project, known as the Colombia Pacific LNG Regasification Terminal, is a nationally significant energy infrastructure project and the first LNG regasification facility in Colombia’s Pacific region. Upon completion, it is expected to reduce the country’s heavy reliance on a single Caribbean port for natural gas imports, help address a domestic natural gas supply shortfall of approximately 10%, and ensure gas supplies for millions of residents and industrial businesses in southwestern Colombia, thereby supporting regional economic development.
